School History

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences started the instructions and learning in 2003, originally as part of the Health Sciences Academic Cluster containing Divisions of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, and Public Health. The 2005 restructuring resulted in the separation of the divisions and Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences became Academic School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Naresuan University Phayao Campus, before attaining the present status as School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Phayao.

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established with the aim to produce pharmacists to meet the demand of the country. The School is committed to the distribution of pharmacists to the upper-northern region of Thailand to increase the number of personnel in the region who play important roles in providing pharmaceutical knowledge and protection to medical staff, patients and the general public. The School offers courses in Pharmaceutical Care program, a 6-year program of study. In the early years of establishment, the School managed classroom instructions of only the first and second-year students. Students in Years 3 to 6 were required to complete the program at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Naresuan University in Phitsanulok province. Today, the study plan has been adjusted and the complete 6-year program is now administered and conducted at the site of University of Phayao as stated in the 2007 policy.
