The visit took place in conjunction with discussions and preparations for the Campus France Tour, Academic Year 2025/2026.

The Campus France Thailand delegation was led by Ms. Muriel Schmitz (French language cooperation officer), Dr. Ludovic Andres (scientific and higher education cooperation officer), Ms. Sujira Panyawattana (Campus France student advisor), and Mr. David Petitjean (Director of Alliance Française Chiang Mai). During the meeting, both parties exchanged views and information on pathways to study in France, scholarship opportunities, and the enhancement of higher education and research collaboration between Thailand and France. The discussion also covered policy-level perspectives and practical approaches to advancing academic partnerships in the future, reflecting UP’s continued commitment to internationalization.

In the afternoon, the University of Phayao hosted an information session led by speakers from the Embassy of France in Thailand (Campus France), providing comprehensive guidance on scholarships, research funding, and exchange programs. The session was designed to encourage students, faculty members, and researchers to explore opportunities for further study and collaboration in France. The event also included interactive activities and concluded with a French film screening to promote French language and culture. The afternoon activities welcomed more than 50 participants, including students and lecturers, highlighting strong interest in international academic and research opportunities.

The afternoon program on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, featured a briefing on studying in France and scholarship opportunities from 13:30–14:30 at Room CE07102, Active Learning Classroom, New Lecture Hall Building, followed by a screening of the French film “Ice and the Sky (La Glace et le Ciel)” from 16:00–18:00 at Library Cinema, Room CE08207, Center for Documentation and Learning, Institute of Learning Innovation. The film was selected as it is a French documentary that underscores the role of science in addressing environmental challenges and climate change, aligning with an academic learning context and inspiring participants to engage with global issues from a broader perspective.
Overall, the activities reflect the University of Phayao’s dedication to strengthening international networks and supporting students and staff through expanded opportunities in education and research, reinforcing readiness to engage on the global stage.
