School of Pharmaceutical Sciences provides practical learning on the topic of “Skin Irritation Test” in which the irritation of skin is an inflammatory condition from an unwanted side effect caused by Irritant contact dermatitis. From the awareness of consumer safety, the cosmetic products required testing before launching to the market especially new substances being used in the product. Patch test is the method of skin irritation test with internationally standard. The important method of testing is assessment by an expert to score on the level of severity of the irritations and other assessment may include transepidermal water loss; TEWL, Erythema which are the parameters related to the irritation symptoms. This practical learning is for student to be enable to design, practice the process of testing and assessment of skin irritation from cosmetic products. This is the part of Quality and Safety Assessment of Cosmetics subject in cosmetic sciences course under Covid-19 epidemic control and prevention measures.
