UP Hosts “UP Identity Festival #5: U-Volunteer for Sustainable Development”

UP Identity Festival

The University of Phayao's Division of Student Affairs, in collaboration with the Division of Student Quality Development and Students with Disabilities, hosted the "UP Identity Festival #5: U-Volunteer for Sustainable Development" on September 12-13, 2025 at the Phaya Ngam Muang Auditorium. This event aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, showcase student development initiatives, and motivate students and higher education networks to promote sustainable development.

Dr. Wutthichai Chairinkham, Vice President for Student Quality, presided over the opening ceremony. In his remarks, he emphasized the university’s commitment to cultivating graduates with the desired attributes under the university’s identity, “Wisdom for Community Empowerment.” He noted that the goal is to develop students who possess both knowledge and morality, a spirit of volunteerism, and the ability to contribute as quality citizens to society.

The festival showcased academic presentations from various faculties and university units, as well as seven higher education institutions. These presentations highlighted student development initiatives and community-based innovations that align with sustainable development principles. Additionally, the program included exhibitions of student activities and discussion forums, such as "The Power of University Volunteers in Creating Educational Opportunities" by Ms. Duangruk Loetmangmee, Director of the Y.I.Y. Foundation, and "Labor Market Trends in Northern Thailand and Current Workforce Demands" by distinguished experts from Phayao Province. These sessions provided valuable insights into the connection between student development and the current demands of the labor market.

The project received support from various local government agencies, such as the Phayao Social Security Office, Office of Welfare and Labor Protection, Provincial Employment Office, Provincial Skill Development Office, and Provincial Labor Office. These agencies played crucial roles in enhancing collaboration networks.

The UP Identity Festival #5 showcases the University of Phayao's unwavering commitment to empowering students as catalysts for societal progress through volunteerism and sustainable development. It also aims to promote collaboration among academic institutions, government agencies, and communities in order to produce graduates who possess both competence and a strong sense of social responsibility.
