School of Liberal Arts received a research-based book from a Thai–Lao academic collaboration
The School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, received a research publication entitled “The Worldview of Thais and Laotians through Main Characters Presented in Thai–Lao S.E.A. Write Award Short Stories.” This study is the result of academic collaboration between researchers from the University of Phayao, Thailand, and the Faculty of Humanities, Souphanouvong University, Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
The research project was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warawat Sriyabhaya, with co-researchers Asst. Prof. Pattra Akeprasert, Asst. Prof. Dr. Parichat Pothii, and Dr. Nalinpat Mekkriengkrai, together with researchers from the Faculty of Humanities, Souphanouvong University, Mr. Phon Phengphanya, Mr. Singthong Phueangphim, and Ms. Sudavanh Phimmachan.
The study explores the worldviews of Thai and Lao authors through S.E.A. Write Award-winning short stories published between 1999 and 2023, offering reflections on humanity, nature, and the environment in contemporary society. Notably, this research has been selected for presentation at the International Conference on “Language, Culture, and Society ASEAN–China 2025,” to be held at Hanoi Industrial University, Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in April 2025.
