On Monday, October 27, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Erawin Thavorn, Associate Dean for Research and Academic Services, led a team of School members and researchers from the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, including Associate Professor Dr. Aphisak Witthayaprapakorn, Assistant Professor Dr. Sutham Arun, and Mr. Anukul Suriyachai. They were joined by Dr. Warach Madhyamapurush, Deputy Director of the Institute of Innovation and Technology Transfer, and a working group from the Research Administration Division, University of Phayao. The team conducted a field visit as part of the “Network for Wolffia Cultivation to Enhance Community Income Project” at the Ban Pong Kluea (Nilla Phayao) Processing Learning Center, Mae Puem Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phayao Province.
During the field visit, the Research Administration Division provided valuable recommendations on improving the efficiency of Wolffia cultivation through technological and equipment innovations. The discussion emphasized the development of a high-performance Wolffia washing machine aimed at reducing production costs for local entrepreneurs while ensuring consistent product quality. Additional suggestions were made regarding climate control in cultivation systems, transitioning to a closed production system, and adopting modern processing technologies to enhance product standards and safety.
Furthermore, this project aims to integrate engineering knowledge with local wisdom to create innovations that address the sustainable economic and social development of the community. The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8, which promotes local enterprise growth and employment opportunities, reinforcing the university’s philosophy of being a “University for Society.” The project reflects the University of Phayao’s commitment to fostering shared value with communities through academic service, innovation, and sustainable development practices.
