The University of Phayao (UP), under the leadership of Associate Professor Supakorn Pongbangpho, Ph.D., President of the University of Phayao, along with university executives and researchers, attended in the 12th “Thai Resources: Revisiting Our Heritage” Conference and Exhibition. This event was held from 4–10 November 2025 in Chiang Mai and was organized by Maejo University as part the Plant Genetic Conservation Project initiated by H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn (RSPG).
During the royal opening ceremony, UP had the honor of presenting H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn with a handwoven cotton fabric that was naturally dyed with Dok Kham Mok Luang. This fabric is a research innovation from the Faculty of Science, showcasing the university’s commitment to preserving local wisdom and promoting community-based industries.
UP’s exhibition featured seven research and innovation projects focusing on sustainable local resource development, such as natural dye innovation, botanical perfumes, native bee biodiversity, wild betta fish conservation, and value-added lychee processing for modern markets. These projects contribute to enhancing community income, promoting eco-friendly production, and strengthening local economies through scientific knowledge and innovation.
The exhibition, which was joined by over 200 organizations nationwide, served as a crucial platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and advancing the royal initiatives on biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management. This aligns with the University of Phayao’s mission to drive research for the well-being of community and sustainable development.
