UP Strengthens Collaboration with Nanhua University, Taiwan to Advance International Education
           


          Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, assigned Associate Professor Dr. Phanintra Teeranon, Assistant to the President, along with Dr. Patcharabhorn Lueraj, Assistant Dean of the School of Architecture and Fine Arts, and Dr. Darinthorn Inthapthim, Project Leader for the Educational Inequality Reduction Program, to visit Nanhua University in Taiwan. The purpose of the visit was to discuss joint action plans following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities.




Key areas of collaboration include:

          1. Exchange of instructors for the subject Thai Architecture or equivalent courses. Lecturers from both universities are required to teach in English to students.

          2. Community-based workshops lasting one week for students from both universities, along with academic competitions in architecture or fine arts. Participation in this collaboration will be recognized as an international-level activity, and students will receive credit equivalency.

          3. Cultural exchange activities focusing on traditional Thai and Taiwanese music.

          4. Collaborative learning city initiatives aimed at reducing educational inequality, involving Nanhua University, Lamphun Municipality, and Tak Municipality, with the University of Phayao serving as a mentoring institution.




          At the 2025 International Symposium on Regional Revitalization, Associate Professor Dr. Phanintra Teeranon delivered a presentation on "Learning Cities in Thailand." The symposium was attended by mayors and local officials from Chiayi City and New Taipei City, as well as scholars from National Chi Nan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Kaohsiung Medical University. During the symposium, participants shared their University Social Responsibility (USR) initiatives, which are part of Taiwan's national policy to promote collaboration between universities and communities in creating shared value. One particularly interesting highlight was Taiwan's use of AI as a learning tool in community engagement.


          The event was attended by 150 participants and was warmly hosted by Professor Dr. Kao Chin-Hsung, President of Nanhua University, Professor Dr. Yeh Yueh-Chiao, Vice President, and other university executives.
