On July 31, 2025, the University of Phayao received an award in the category of “Organizations Supporting the Creation of Community Self-Management Spaces” at the 3rd Community Power Forum: "Community Power: Transforming Thailand". This event was organized by the Community Organizations Development Institute (CODI) under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security.
Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Phongbangpo, President of the University of Phayao, delegated Assistant Professor Udom Ngammeuangsakul, Dean of the School of Law, to represent the university in receiving the honorary plaque. The event was held from July 30 to August 1, 2025, at the Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty, Building B, in Bangkok.
This recognition highlights the University of Phayao’s strong commitment to tangible community development through initiatives such as the Legal Clinic of the School of Law and collaborative projects led by various university units. These efforts have significantly contributed to empowering civil society organizations, sub-district community groups, and the “Phayao People's Network” in shaping public policy and building grassroots self-management systems. These initiatives align with the university’s guiding philosophy of “Wisdom for Community Empowerment” and its vision: “Creating Knowledge and Community Innovation for Global and Sustainable Impact.”
The event featured exhibitions from community organizations across Thailand’s five regions, keynote addresses, panel discussions, the launch of a national people’s development plan, and strategic proposals to the government. These discussions focused on decentralization, civic participation, and building resilient local economies and community financial systems.
The University of Phayao is committed to its mission of strengthening local communities through the integration of academic knowledge and civil society engagement. Our goal is to promote balanced and high-quality development for Thai society.
