School of Liberal Arts Hosts “Thai Language Gems” Project:
Thai Language as a Source of Inspiration for Creative Development
On Saturday, August 16, 2025, the Thai Language Department, School of Liberal Arts organized the “Thai Language Gems” project under the theme “Thai Language as a Source of Inspiration for Creative Development” at Room UB002, UB Building, University of Phayao.
The project aimed to enhance students’ Thai language skills and expand their knowledge in writing techniques, research methodology, and creative thinking. It also sought to foster appreciation for the significance and value of the Thai language, as well as to promote the preservation of linguistic heritage, literature, and Thai arts and culture-core components of the nation’s identity.
A variety of activities were held throughout the day, including a morning session titled “Wisdom of the Thai Language” featuring:
1. Thai folk song singing contest (Luk Thung)
2. Thai Language and Literature Quiz Bowl
3. Thai Language Research Presentation Contest
4. Impromptu Speech Contest
5. Local Dialect Storytelling Contest
The afternoon session, titled “Creative Learning of Thai Language and Literature”, centered around the project’s main theme and featured guest speakers:
Dr. Witoon Mettajit from the School of Liberal Arts, Prince of Songkla University, and Mr. Chaiwat Petcharat, who shared their insights and experiences to inspire students in their academic and creative pursuits.
Special thanks go to Ajarn Nattaworn Wongjitratorn, Deputy Dean for Student Quality, School of Liberal Arts, for presiding over the opening ceremony and welcoming all participants. Appreciation is also extended to the school members and students of the Thai Language Department for their dedication and collaborative efforts in making the event a success.
