Academic Affairs Unit, School of Liberal Arts,

Hosts Bilingual Storytelling Project to Enhance Literacy and Critical Thinking Skills

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, the Academic Affairs Unit, School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Khomkrich Tachom, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, organized a project titled “Bilingual Stories from Phayao Soft Power: Teacher Development for Enhancing Reading, Writing, and Critical Thinking Skills in Students.”

The event was part of the 2025 fiscal year initiative “Educational Quality and Local Development with Higher Education Institutions as Mentors.” The first activity under the project, “Techniques for Creating Bilingual Tales Using Phayao Soft Power,” was conducted online via Zoom.

The program featured Mr. Ruangsak Pinprateep, a renowned children’s book author and Managing Director of the Books for Children Foundation, as the guest speaker. He shared insights into how local soft power can be transformed into engaging and culturally rich bilingual stories.

This training aimed to equip participating primary school teachers with the skills to create bilingual storybooks based on Phayao’s local identity. These materials are intended to support the development of students' reading, writing, and analytical thinking skills at the elementary level. Teachers from schools under the Phayao Primary Educational Service Area Office 2 joined the session.

This initiative reflects the School’s commitment to community engagement and educational development through creativity, culture, and collaboration.
