On 14 January 2026, the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, warmly welcomed the Thailand Microelectronics Center (TMEC) on the occasion of the “Northern Region Roadshow: Building Networks and Identifying Trainers for Workforce Development in the Semiconductor and Advanced Electronics Industry” The event forms part of a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening collaboration networks and enhancing human capital development in the semiconductor and advanced electronics sector, which is widely recognized as a key strategic industry for improving the nation’s long-term competitiveness.
This initiative is fully aligned with the national policy directions of the Government of Thailand and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), which prioritize the promotion of investment in the semiconductor and advanced electronics industries as one of the country’s core target industries. Such policy emphasis is shaped by ongoing geopolitical shifts that have significantly influenced global supply chain restructuring, thereby creating new opportunities for Thailand to emerge as a competitive regional hub for high-technology investment.
Within this context, the Roadshow at the University of Phayao represents an important platform for fostering academic–industry collaboration, identifying capacity-building needs, and laying the groundwork for a systematic and sustainable approach to developing a skilled workforce capable of supporting the growth of the semiconductor and advanced electronics industries in Thailand.
