The Skill Standard Testing Center the University of Phayao, School of Engineering, through the Research and Academic Engineering Center (RACE), organized the project entitled “National Skill Standard Testing Program, School of Engineering, University of Phayao, Fiscal Year 2026” The assessment was conducted in the field of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Milling Technician, Level 1, during 6–8 March 2026 at the Industrial Engineering Laboratory Building, School of Engineering, University of Phayao.
A total of 22 participants successfully completed the assessment, comprising students from the University of Phayao and trainees from Phayao Technical College. The evaluation process consisted of two major components:
Theoretical Examination :
This component assessed participants’ knowledge and conceptual understanding of CNC milling operations, including the principles of machine operation, programming techniques, and the application of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) systems in manufacturing processes.
Practical Examination :
The practical assessment focused on evaluating hands-on technical competencies, including machine operation and control, production process analysis, workflow planning, and the precision and quality of manufactured workpieces.
The assessment was conducted under the supervision and quality assurance framework of the Department of Skill Development, ensuring compliance with national occupational competency standards. The examination process was monitored and evaluated by qualified experts and certified assessors, including Mr. Yothin Utthawang, Mr. Panupong Wongkaew, Mr. Piyapong Yarawong, Mr. Sombat Suya, and Mr. Anukul Suriyachai, who oversaw both theoretical and practical components to ensure transparency, reliability, and alignment with national professional competency certification criteria.
The evaluation criteria were designed to comprehensively measure multiple dimensions of professional capability. These included fundamental technical knowledge, operational safety in machinery use, appropriate working methods, equipment handling and maintenance, effective material selection, time management in manufacturing processes, as well as the accuracy and quality of the finished products.
Participants who successfully passed the assessment will receive the National Skill Standard Certificate, which serves as official evidence of professional competency. This certification can be utilized when applying for employment both domestically and internationally, thereby enhancing employability and supporting long-term career advancement. In addition, the certification may be used as supporting documentation for wage consideration in accordance with the Wage Committee’s Notification on Skill Standard Wage Rates (No. 13).
This initiative reflects the significant role of the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, in serving as a key institutional mechanism for the development of a highly competent engineering and technological workforce. By aligning workforce skills with national professional standards, the program contributes to meeting the evolving demands of the industrial sector and supports the long-term enhancement of the country’s competitiveness in the global economy.
