University of Phayao Physics Team Trains Community on PM 2.5 Prevention and Showcases Electric Field Dust-Capturing Innovation

คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา
The School of Science, University of Phayao, led by Dr. Niyom Hongsith and Dr. Somrit Unai, lecturers in the Physics Program, together with Ms. Yodkhwan Artthanong and Ms. Siriporn Saengsrijan, fourth-year physics students, participated as guest speakers in the project entitled “Prevention and Mitigation of PM 2.5 Fine Dust Pollution”, organized by Wiang Subdistrict Municipality, Chiang Kham District, Phayao Province.
The event was held on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, at the Wiang Subdistrict Municipality Office, Chiang Kham District, Phayao Province.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Mr. Suttipong Wongnan, Mayor of Wiang Subdistrict Municipality, while Mr. Thon Jaidee, Deputy Mayor of Wiang Subdistrict Municipality, delivered the project report.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in a variety of activities, including:
🔹 Theoretical lectures on the current PM 2.5 air pollution situation, the working principles of DIY air purifiers, the creation of positive pressure rooms, as well as practical approaches to reducing air pollution and protecting household health.
🔹 Hands-on demonstrations and workshops on how to build DIY air purifiers and create positive pressure rooms, allowing participants to practice and apply the knowledge themselves.
🔹 A demonstration of electric field-based dust capture technology, a highlighted innovation introduced by the Physics Program team. The technology applies principles of physics to attract and trap fine dust particles from the air using electrical forces, offering communities an alternative and effective solution for addressing PM 2.5 pollution.
This initiative reflects the School of Science, University of Phayao’s commitment to applying scientific knowledge and technological innovation to solve real-world community challenges. It also provided students with valuable opportunities to apply classroom knowledge through meaningful community service, in alignment with the University of Phayao’s mission of being a true “University for the Community.”
