On 10 June 2026, the School of Political and Social Sciences, University of Phayao, organized the New Student Orientation Program for the 2026 Academic Year at Phu Kam Yao 5 Lecture Hall, University of Phayao.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Montra Pongnil, Dean of the School of Political and Social Sciences, who officially welcomed the new students and delivered an inspirational address. His remarks focused on preparing students for university life, encouraging personal growth, and inspiring them to become knowledgeable, responsible, and socially conscious graduates. Dr. Rakkiat Intabthan, Associate Dean for Student Development and Alumni Relations, delivered the project report and highlighted the objectives of the orientation program.
The orientation was designed to prepare first-year students for higher education by providing essential information about the Faculty's academic programs, teaching and learning system, student development activities, scholarships, student welfare, and the wide range of support services available at the University of Phayao.
The program included introductions to the Faculty's executive team, program chairs, academic staff, and support personnel. Representatives from the Faculty's four academic programs—Public Policy, Social Development, Public Innovation Management, and Political Science—officially welcomed the new students and introduced their respective programs. Students also participated in a welcoming ceremony and received important information about the Faculty, academic regulations, university policies, learning expectations, campus life, student development activities, scholarships, and welfare services designed to support both their academic success and personal development.
The final session featured presentations by the Faculty Student Association, introducing extracurricular activities and opportunities for student engagement. An open discussion and question-and-answer session allowed new students to exchange ideas, seek advice, and interact closely with senior students, faculty members, and staff. The welcoming and friendly atmosphere helped foster a strong sense of belonging and build positive relationships within the Faculty community.
The orientation program aimed to equip new students with a comprehensive understanding of their academic programs, university regulations, student development opportunities, scholarships, welfare services, and support systems. It also sought to help students successfully adapt to university life, strengthen the UP Identity, and promote meaningful relationships among students, faculty members, staff, and senior students. Through these efforts, the Faculty strives to nurture well-rounded graduates who are academically prepared, socially responsible, and capable of thriving throughout their university journey and beyond.
