Logo of the University of Phayao

The banner of the University of Phayao consists of 7 white candlestick-like shapes, representing the 7 mountains surrounding the universe. In the background lies a stone inscription, topped with a purple lotus petal. Underneath, there are the letters มพ, which is an abbreviation of the university’s name. This was written in the Lanna Phakkam writing style. Beneath the abbreviation lies the full name of the University of Phayao in Purple. Its English language version, "University of Phayao", is written in white on the gold stripe.

Phra Buddhaa Phusha Ka Raksa

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously granted the name of the Naga Buddha statue (the Buddha is depicted in a meditation pose sheltered by a Naga snake), engraved on it is Her Royal Highness’s Royal Banner, which is on the Buddha statue situated at the University of Phayao as "Phra Buddhaa Phusha Ka Raksa" which means: the Buddha that is protected by Naga.

"Phra Buddhaa Phusha Ka Raksa", is a Buddha at the University of Phayao. It is a Naga Budha Statue engraved using Her Royal Highness’s Royal banner at the front of the coil. It is a Buddha statue that is used as a center of faith by university personnel and others. The statue is 18.30-meter high and has a width of 9 meters. It is a replica of the Naga Buddha Statue found in Korahi City that was built in the 18th Buddhist Century. The hands of the statue are in the attitude of Subduing Mara. There is a Bothi leaf- like image at the front of the bun and a folded outer robe on the left shoulder. The statue is situated on a hill behind the Praya Ngum Muang Auditorium.

The Tree of the University is Fah Mui

Fah Mui is an orchid whose scientific name is vanda coerulea Griff. ex Lindle, which is Orchidaceae. It is vanda. Its unique beauty makes it one of the world’s most beautiful orchids. The literal meaning of "Fah Mui" is the dull sky; the overwhelming beauty of the purple-blue petals of the orchid causes this dull sky look.

Graduation gowns of pride

The University of Phayao Graduation gowns are composed of black satin cloaks with woven stripes in purple with gold treads. The Bothi leaf shape, hood and academic caps are decorated with each school or college’s color treads. There are tassels at the end of the Tai Lue woven strips, in "the Tum Kaw pattern". It is evident that the pattern on the University of Phayao’s graduation gowns is unique. The pattern used is local, which demonstrates the prestige of the local culture. Through the materials, methods of production, and patterns used, the idea of wisdom, which has developed from nature, is reflected by the University of Phayao’s Graduation gowns.
