UP Engineering Co-Hosts EECON-48 Driving Intelligent Technologies and Innovations toward Human Sustainability

The School of Engineering, University of Phayao, in collaboration with the Electrical Engineering Academic Association (Thailand), the Faculty of Engineering at Chiang Mai University, and the Faculty of Engineering at Naresuan University, had the honor of serving as co-hosts of the 48th Electrical Engineering Conference (EECON-48). The conference was held under the theme “Intelligent Technology and Innovation for Human Sustainability” from 19 to 21 November 2025 at the Furama Hotel, Chiang Mai Province. Established in 1978, this annual conference has long been recognized as a key platform for presenting research findings and fostering knowledge exchange in electrical engineering at both national and international levels.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Samur Thanoi, Vice President for Research and Innovation, University of Phayao. Joining him as co-chairs of the ceremony were Associate Professor Dr. Athikom Rerkbus, President of the Electrical Engineering Academic Association, and Mr. Pongsakorn Yuthagovit, Deputy Governor for Planning and Engineering, Provincial Electricity Authority. Professor Dr. Chawasak Rakpenthai, Chair of EECON-48, delivered the conference report.

The event featured three keynote lectures by distinguished experts:

  • Mr. Pongsakorn Yuthagovit, Deputy Governor for Planning and Engineering, Provincial Electricity Authority
  • Professor Dr. Isarachai Ngamru, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang
  • Dr. Worawut Woruttamapornsuk, Country Managing Director, Hitachi Energy (Thailand) Limited

As part of EECON-48, the 5/2025 Committee Meeting was also convened to report on the progress of the conference. Participants included members of the Academic Council, representatives of the Electrical Engineering Academic Association, and delegates from affiliated institutions.

This year, more than 301 research articles were submitted for review, with 285 papers accepted for presentation. This reflects the robustness of the research community as well as the continual advancement of electrical engineering scholarship in Thailand—advancement that is driven by a shared commitment to innovation for sustainable development.

Serving as a co-host for EECON-48 is also part of the University of Phayao’s 16th-anniversary celebration, underscoring the Faculty of Engineering’s capabilities and its growing national and regional presence. The conference further reinforces the integration of academic knowledge, research, and institutional collaboration among universities, government agencies, and industry partners. Moreover, it provides an invaluable opportunity for researchers and practitioners to exchange ideas, share experiences, and collectively contribute to sustainable societal impact.
