School of Pharmaceutical Sciences provides practical learning under Covid-19

School of Pharmaceutical Sciences provides practical learning under Covid-19 epidemic control and prevention measures on the topic of “Surfactants and wetting” for the students to be enable to increase the wetting of the solid material used in cosmetics by using proper types of surfactants.

Most of surfactants are organic compounds consisting of Hydrophilic group; Polar headgroup and Hydrophobic group; Non-polar chain. The important feature of the surfactants is when a small amount of surfactant is added to the water and the surfactant will reduce the tension of the water to create the process such as foaming, wetting and cleaning process etc.

The surfactant is divided into 4 types, namely; Anionic surfactants, Cationic surfactants, Zwitterionic/Amphoteric surfactants, and Nonionic surfactants. This practical learning is the part of Applied Physical Chemistry in Cosmetic Science subject in cosmetic sciences course.
