The University of Phayao has opened its First City Administrator Course Class


       The objective of this event, is to instill knowledge about City Learning and promote the City Learning movement to transfer the mechanisms of lifelong learning, assessment, and communication development to the group of cities learning workers. This course provides knowledge to develop the city, according to the context of the city’s space, aiming to help out-of-school children and at-risk youth. It also creates opportunities for people to learn based on their interests, either for earning a living, or passing on knowledge and ultimately contributing to the development of human resources, economy, and sustainable quality of life. Its curriculum is based on the principle of 'People build cities, cities make people.'


         The Associate Professor Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, has assigned: Professor Samur Thanoi, Vice President for Research and Innovation, Associate Professor Dr. Phanintra Teeranon, Assistant to the President, Assistant Professor Namngern Chantaramanee, Director of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Institute, Associate Professor Amares Thepma, Dean of the School of Architecture and Fine Arts. Along with executives from the EEF (Equitable Education Fund), including Mr. Patanapongs Sukmadan, Assistant Manager, Mr. Idh Pukkantfhorn, Senior Academic Level, Miss Wirittha Kaewket, Deputy Director for Planning and Strategy Organizational. Also, present were: Associate Professor Poon Thiengburanathum, from the PMUA (Program Management Unit on Area-Based Development), The Nanhua University from Taiwan. The poarticipants jointly opened the City Administration course, which was held between the 4th and 6th November 2023, at the Amari Don Muang Airport Bangkok Hotel, and received the attention of 250 people both onsite and online, representing each town municipality.


         On this occasion, Mr. Ennu Suesuwan, the Subcommittee for Area-Based Education Management to Reduce Educational Inequality and the Committee for the National Economics and Social Development Council, emphasized that, “This course aligns with 12th goal in the National Strategy: fostering a high-capability workforce committed to lifelong learning, development, and reducing societal inequality.”


        The project focuses on creating a workforce that understands how to build a Learning City, committed to lifelong learning at the local and municipal levels. This involves continuous collaboration between the PMUA (Program Management Unit on Area-Based Development), the EEF (Equitable Education Fund) and the City Unit at the University of Phayao. The aim is to strengthen the development of UNESCO global network of Learning cities and to reduce educational inequality. This will be achieved through the implementation of the City Administrator Course in four pilot areas: Yala Municipal, Trang Municipal, Lamphun Municipal, and Udon Thani Municipal.
