On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the University of Phayao held an event called "Grand Moment of Memories: Once in a Lifetime to Pay Respect to Luang Pho Sila in Kwan Phayao." The event was led by Wuthichai Chairinkam, Ph.D., the Vice President for Student Quality, and Jaruwan Poshyananda, Ph.D., the Assistant to the President. Miss Amnowyporn Kuttiwong, the Director of the Center for Lanna Arts and Culture, and the center's staff also participated in the event.
The event, organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phayao Office, offers participants a unique and spiritual experience - a boat trip across Kwan Phayao to pay homage to the sacred Luang Pho Sila Buddha image at Wat Tilok Aram, located in the middle of the lake. This activity, held on every full moon day, includes lighting incense and candles for worship, offering alms of rice, participating in candlelight rituals, and performing a Suptachata ceremony for blessings.
By joining this activity, the University of Phayao reinforces its commitment to Strategy 4, which focuses on preserving and promoting Thai arts and culture as part of the university’s identity. The initiative aims to conserve, revitalize, and elevate local wisdom and cultural knowledge to create sustainable value through Cultural Enterprise, while fostering strong collaboration between the university and local communities in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
