ATTC UP Strengthens Safety Standards for Radioactive Material Possession

The Automotive and transportation Technology Center (ATTC) School of Engineering, University of Phayao, through the Automotive and Transportation Technology Center, organized a workshop entitled “Submission of Applications for Authorization to Possess or Use Radioactive Materials to the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP)” on 15 December 2025 at the meeting room of the Automotive and Transportation Technology Center. The workshop aimed to prepare essential supporting documents and critical information in full compliance with the relevant ministerial regulations and the requirements prescribed by the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP).

The activities comprised a briefing session on key legal and regulatory requirements, followed by a site visit to observe in situ soil density testing conducted as part of the double-track railway construction project on the Den Chai–Chiang Rai–Chiang Khong route, Contract Package 2 (Ngao–Chiang Rai section). This initiative was undertaken to ensure that the University of Phayao’s research operations and engineering testing activities involving the use of radioactive materials are conducted accurately, comprehensively, and in accordance with internationally recognized radiation safety standards.
