Engineering and School of Nursing Collaborate to Develop the VOG Innovation Advancing Toward THE Awards Asia 2027

Engineering and School of Nursing Collaborate to Develop the VOG Innovation Advancing Toward THE Awards Asia 2027

School of Engineering University of Phayao, extends its heartfelt congratulations to Associate Professor Dr. Sitthidet Vachirasricirikul, a lecturer in the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Electrical Engineering, and Ms. Ratchaneewan Munsawaeng, Professional-Level Academic Officer of the School of Engineering, for their collaborative achievement in developing an innovative research project in partnership with the School of Nursing, University of Phayao.

Their project has been selected to participate in the “UP PRE – THE Awards 2027” initiative, a preparatory program designed to support and strengthen outstanding projects prior to their submission to the prestigious THE Awards Asia 2027, one of the region’s most recognized platforms for excellence and innovation in higher education.

The selected project, entitled “Virtual Oxygen Generator (VOG): A Low-Cost Virtual Oxygen Simulation Innovation for Clinical Skills Development in Nursing Education” is a cost-effective prototype innovation developed to enhance nursing education and clinical skills training. The system utilizes an air pump mechanism and air-pressure control technology in place of actual oxygen supplies, thereby reducing the risks associated with high-pressure oxygen cylinders while providing students with greater opportunities for hands-on practice within a simulated learning environment.

The VOG innovation aligns closely with the principles of Simulation-Based Learning and Sustainable Healthcare Education. Designed for repeated use, ease of transportation, and practical implementation, the system can also be adapted as a Nebulizer Training System for respiratory care training. As an innovative educational solution, VOG contributes to expanding access to experiential learning opportunities and demonstrates significant potential for adoption by other health sciences institutions in the future.
