School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao Organizes Orientation Program for First-Year Students for Academic Year 2026

     On Tuesday, 10 June 2026, the School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, organized an orientation program for first-year students for the 2026 academic year. The program was designed to prepare new students for academic life, university living, and a better understanding of higher education.

 

     On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Chittima Kaweera, Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, warmly welcomed and congratulated the new students. She introduced the School’s roles, missions, and future directions, highlighting its vision of becoming “a language innovation institute to enhance community quality of life.” The School also embraces the concept of “We are the Language School for All, aiming to provide language-learning opportunities for everyone.

 

     The Dean expressed pride in the School’s long history of academic service, spanning more than 31 years, including the period when it operated as a campus under Naresuan University. Currently, the School employs 127 personnel, including Thai and international faculty members as well as support staff, who work together to develop graduates with strong language competencies and the ability to apply their knowledge effectively in both professional and social contexts.

 

     The orientation program was organized by the Student Affairs Unit and the Student Club under the supervision of Mr. Nattaworn Wongjittratorn, Associate Dean for Student Quality Development. Program Chairs, together with Thai and international faculty members, participated in the event to provide guidance on language learning strategies, academic success, and future career pathways.

 

     At present, the School of Liberal Arts offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degree programs, as well as double-degree and interdisciplinary programs in collaboration with other schools. The School currently serves 3,287 students across a wide range of disciplines in languages and humanities, including English, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and French. Graduate programs are also offered to advance knowledge and research in language studies and linguistics.

 

     In her address, the Dean emphasized the importance of lifelong learning, personal development in both academic and life skills, social responsibility, and making the most of university life through participation in academic and extracurricular activities. Such experiences, she noted, complement classroom learning and contribute significantly to students’ overall growth.

 

     The orientation program marked an important first step in the university journey of the new students. The School of Liberal Arts hopes that all students will achieve academic success, develop desirable qualities, grow into responsible graduates, and become valuable contributors to society and the nation in the future.
