On 25 June 2026, the School of Political and Social Sciences, University of Phayao, organized the project "Integrating Towards Carbon Neutrality and Developing the Faculty's Greenhouse Gas Emissions Baseline Inventory" at the School of Political and Social Sciences Meeting Room. The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Montra Pongnil, Dean of the School of Political and Social Sciences.
The project aimed to enhance participants' knowledge and understanding of the concept of Carbon Neutrality, while encouraging active participation among faculty members and support staff in advancing the Faculty toward sustainable development. It also served to prepare the Faculty for establishing a baseline greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory, which will support the development of systematic strategies and measures for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the future.
The program featured a lecture entitled "Carbon Neutrality: The Role of Universities and Faculties, and Strategies for Faculty Development toward Carbon Neutrality," followed by a knowledge-sharing session on "Analyzing and Applying Carbon Neutrality Strategies for Faculty Development." The sessions were delivered by Dr. Prat Pingmuanglek, Acting Director of the Center for Environment and Sustainable Management, University of Phayao. The activities provided participants with practical knowledge and approaches that can be effectively integrated into the Faculty's operations.
The event was attended by the Faculty's administrators, academic staff, and support personnel, who actively exchanged ideas and collaboratively discussed approaches to collecting the Faculty's greenhouse gas emissions baseline data. This initiative marks a significant milestone in advancing the Faculty of Political Science and Social Sciences toward becoming an environmentally responsible organization committed to sustainability, in alignment with the sustainability policy of the University of Phayao.
