Associate Professor Supakorn Pongbangpho, Ph.D.President, University of Phayao, assigned Associate Professor Phanintra Teeranon, Ph.D.Assistant to the President delegation in a series of strategic meetings with the Shanghai Municipal Institute for Lifelong Education (SMILE), Thailand's Equitable Education Fund (EEF), and UNESCO Bangkok on 15 July 2026. The mission aimed to strengthen international collaboration in lifelong learning and advance the Learning City Network to reduce educational inequality.
The delegation began the day with discussions at the Office of the Education Council, where representatives exchanged policy perspectives on lifelong learning and explored opportunities to strengthen educational cooperation between Thailand and international partners. The delegation later participated in the meeting "Advancing Equitable and Lifelong Education Through Global Partnerships" at the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) to prepare for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), scheduled for 17 July 2026 at the University of Phayao. The agreement will establish a collaborative framework for developing Thailand's Learning City Network in partnership with international organizations.
During the meeting, representatives from the University of Phayao and SMILE presented a Strategic Roadmap to enhance cooperation in lifelong learning, Learning City development, and inclusive educational opportunities for learners of all ages. The roadmap also emphasizes educational innovation, policy collaboration, and international knowledge exchange.
In the afternoon, the delegation met with experts from UNESCO Bangkok to present the "Shanghai–Thailand Consortium", a long-term initiative to strengthen collaboration between Thailand and Shanghai in advancing Learning Cities. Discussions focused on developing school-based indicators for student well-being, promoting physical and mental health, and applying digital technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and equitable access to quality education.
This collaboration highlights the University of Phayao's commitment to lifelong learning and its growing role in fostering international partnerships. By connecting with leading organizations in Thailand and abroad, the University continues to promote educational innovation, strengthen global cooperation, and contribute to the development of inclusive and sustainable Learning Cities.
