Engineering Explores the Potential of Digital Twin Technology Advancing Construction Project Management for the Next Generation of Engineers

School of Engineering University of Phayao, led by Mr. Rittayut Gonthong, Lecturer in the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Civil Engineering, organized a hands-on workshop entitled “Digital Twin Technology for Construction Project Development” on Sunday, 19 July 2026, at Room CE10206, Combined Classroom Building, University of Phayao. The workshop was designed to enhance the knowledge and competencies of students, alumni, and interested participants in the application of digital technologies within the construction engineering sector while fostering a comprehensive understanding of Digital Twin technology—an emerging innovation that is transforming the planning, monitoring, and management of construction projects in the digital era.

The workshop featured Mr. Thanachai Wechathirarat, Managing Director of Satlen Geo Solution (Thailand) Co., Ltd., as the distinguished keynote speaker. Drawing upon his extensive industry expertise, he shared practical insights into the implementation of Digital Twin technology in construction and infrastructure projects. The session covered the fundamental concepts, operating principles, enabling technologies, and real-world industrial case studies, providing participants with a comprehensive perspective on how Digital Twin can be effectively integrated into engineering design, construction processes, project inspection, and lifecycle management to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.

This initiative reflects the School of Engineering's commitment to strengthening both the academic and professional capabilities of its students and personnel. It also underscores the School's dedication to bridging academia and industry by integrating practical expertise into engineering education. Through such collaborations, the School aims to equip future engineers with the advanced competencies and digital skills required to address the evolving demands of the engineering profession and to support the continued advancement of construction technologies in the era of digital transformation.
