On Saturday, 12 September 2026, the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, organized a training session entitled “Computer Act and IT Law” as part of the Engineering Student Internship Preparation Project. The activity was held at PKY1, University of Phayao, with the objective of strengthening students’ knowledge and understanding of laws relevant to professional practice. It also aimed to equip students with the ability to appropriately apply such knowledge during internships, cooperative education, and professional practice in workplace settings with due responsibility.
The training session was officially opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Wassana Naku, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, School of Engineering, University of Phayao. The session was subsequently delivered by Assistant Professor Narissara Prasitthipanwang, Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Corporate Communications, School of Law, University of Phayao, who served as the invited speaker. She provided students with essential knowledge of digital laws that contemporary engineers should be familiar with, including computer-related legislation and information technology laws governing the use of digital technologies in everyday life and professional environments.
The organization of this activity reflects the School of Engineering’s recognition of the growing importance of legal literacy and digital ethics in preparing students for the contemporary workplace. As information technology and digital systems have become integral to organizational operations across virtually all sectors, students preparing for internships and cooperative education are expected to understand their rights, duties, responsibilities, and the potential legal implications associated with the use of computers, information systems, data, and digital media. Such knowledge is essential for preventing inadvertent conduct that may constitute a violation of applicable laws.
In addition, the activity sought to foster students’ awareness of responsible and ethical use of information technology, while developing their ability to analyze situations and determine appropriate courses of action within workplace contexts. This approach contributes to the development of essential 21st-century competencies, complementing students’ professional knowledge and technical expertise. Ultimately, the initiative aims to enable students to enter the workforce with greater confidence, accountability, and awareness, while ensuring that their professional practice is conducted appropriately within the frameworks of applicable laws and professional ethics.
