The Research and Academic Service Center of Engineering (RACE), School of Engineering, University of Phayao, in collaboration with the Kamnan Det Distilled Spirits Community Enterprise, presented research findings from the project entitled “Enhancing Quality Control Processes in Community-Based Distilled Spirits Production to Strengthen Sustainable Competitiveness” The research exhibition was held as part of the site visit activities under the third cohort of the Area-Based Research Management Capacity Development Programme (ABC Academy III), organised within the framework of the Area-Based Research Manager Development Project, at De One Dee Hotel, Chiang Kham District, Phayao Province, Thailand.
The research project forms part of the University of Phayao’s “One School, One SDG” Initiative and is led by Assistant Professor Dr. Erawin Thavorn, Vice Dean for Research and Academic Services, School of Engineering. The project focuses on applying engineering expertise and systematic research methodologies to enhance quality control systems in community-based distilled spirits production. Its primary objectives are to improve production efficiency, establish systematic quality management practices, and ensure consistent product quality standards. Furthermore, the initiative seeks to strengthen the capabilities of local entrepreneurs, enabling community enterprises to adapt to evolving market conditions and enhance their long-term competitiveness.
The event also featured research exhibitions and hands-on workshops showcasing outcomes from various area-based research projects. These activities provided a platform for sharing research achievements, disseminating knowledge, and demonstrating practical approaches to applying research findings to address local challenges and improve community production processes. The exhibition highlighted the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and local enterprises through the integration of engineering expertise, technological innovations, and quality management principles. Such collaborative efforts aim to generate added value for locally produced goods while enhancing the competitiveness and long-term sustainability of community enterprises.
Moreover, the initiative underscores the School of Engineering, University of Phayao’s commitment to advancing research and academic services that respond effectively to the specific needs and development priorities of local communities. By promoting technology transfer, strengthening collaborative networks, and facilitating the practical application of research outcomes, the School contributes to local economic development and the empowerment of grassroots communities. These efforts align with the University of Phayao’s institutional mission to generate knowledge and innovation that foster sustainable community development and broader societal progress.
