University of Phayao Advances Academic Excellence, Welcomes Fulbright Specialist for Special Lectures and Workshops to Strengthen Research Capacity and International Publication Standards
The University of Phayao (UP) continues to drive academic and research development toward international standards by strengthening global academic collaboration. In this effort, UP welcomed Professor Timothy E. O’Brien from Loyola University Chicago, USA, as an invited speaker under the Fulbright Specialist Program, to support the enhancement of research quality, scholarly publications, and internationally competitive research proposal development through a series of special lectures and hands-on workshops held from 17 December 2025 to 9 January 2026.
On Monday, 22 December 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of University of Phayao, together with the university’s executive team—Asst. Prof. Dr. Chonthida Thephinlap, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phanintra Teeranon, Assistant to the President; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Narin Nonthamand, Assistant to the President—officially welcomed Professor O’Brien at the President’s Meeting Room.
Also present was Ms. Wilailuck Krutpan, Acting Director of the Division of Educational Services.
Professor O’Brien’s visit formed part of activities under the Fulbright Specialist Program, an international academic exchange initiative designed to promote academic collaboration, knowledge sharing, and institutional capacity building—particularly in elevating research quality and strengthening academic communication in alignment with international standards.
The program was coordinated by the Division of Educational Services and the International Relations Office, in collaboration with the School of Science, School of Medicine, School of Dentistry, the Research Administration Division, and the Demonstration School, University of Phayao, ensuring broad academic engagement across faculty members, university students, and school students.
Scope of Academic Activities
The program focused on strengthening knowledge and skills in research methodology, academic writing, and research proposal development. Key topics included:

Objectives and Expected Outcomes
This initiative aims to enhance understanding of internationally recognized research methodology, strengthen academic communication skills, and increase capacity among staff and students to develop high-quality research outputs and competitive proposals for global research funding. Ultimately, it supports the sustainable elevation of the University of Phayao’s research quality and international standing.
