The Bachelor of Engineering Program in Industrial Engineering, School of Engineering, University of Phayao, led by Assistant Professor Dr. Erawin Thavorn, together with laboratory instructors and second-year students, organized the “Big Cleaning Day: Industrial Engineering Program, School of Engineering, University of Phayao” on 16 February 2026 at the Industrial Engineering Laboratory Building.
This initiative was designed to integrate industrial management knowledge with hands-on practice through the implementation of the “5S” methodology—an internationally recognized foundational framework for workplace improvement. The 5S process comprises Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. Collectively, these principles aim to enhance operational efficiency, ensure workplace safety, and improve the overall quality of the working environment.
Beyond promoting orderliness and cleanliness within the laboratory facilities—thereby fostering a safe and effective setting for practical instruction—the activity also cultivated essential professional competencies. These include responsibility, discipline, teamwork, and a quality-oriented mindset, all of which are critical attributes for industrial engineers operating in contemporary organizational contexts. Through this experiential learning approach, students were afforded the opportunity to translate theoretical concepts into tangible practice, reinforcing both technical knowledge and professional values in alignment with industry standards.
