On Saturday, 19 September 2026, the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, organized the “AI for Engineering Practice” activity as part of the School’s Student Internship Preparation Project at PKY1 Classroom, University of Phayao. The activity was designed to enhance engineering students’ knowledge and practical skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI), preparing them for internships and cooperative education placements while equipping them with the ability to apply AI technologies effectively in real-world professional settings. It also aimed to foster students’ adaptability to the operational contexts, professional practices, and working environments of organizations.
The session was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Nopparat Katkhaw, a lecturer in the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Mechanical Engineering and a specialist in Artificial Intelligence (AI). As the invited speaker, Dr. Nopparat shared knowledge, practical insights, and professional experience on the application of AI within engineering contexts, with an emphasis on bridging academic knowledge and real-world practice. The session aimed to enable students to apply AI technologies appropriately, effectively, and responsibly in engineering-related tasks.
The activity featured a series of lectures and knowledge-sharing sessions covering several key topics. These included “Introduction to AI for Engineers” which provided students with a foundational understanding of fundamental AI concepts and principles relevant to engineering; “AI Applications across Engineering Disciplines” which explored ways in which AI can support engineering workflows and problem-solving across diverse professional contexts; and “AI Skills for Internships and Cooperative Education” which focused on developing essential competencies for using AI as a tool to support learning, data analysis, task management, and workplace productivity.
The activity reflects the School of Engineering, University of Phayao’s commitment to developing graduates who possess not only strong engineering knowledge but also digital competencies aligned with the evolving demands of industry and the labor market. In particular, AI-related competencies are becoming increasingly significant in the work of modern engineers, encompassing areas such as data analysis, product design and development, production-process optimization, predictive maintenance, and data-driven decision-making. Through initiatives of this nature, the School continues to prepare students to apply emerging technologies effectively while adapting to the increasingly digital and technology-driven nature of contemporary engineering practice.
