On June 3rd, 2025, the School of Law at the University of Phayao, led by Assistant Professor Udom Ngammuangsakul, Dean of the School of Law, along with administrators and staff, visited the Shanghai University Law School in the People's Republic of China. The purpose of the visit was to explore opportunities for academic cooperation and establish a foundation for a future Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions.

The main objective of this visit was to exchange legal knowledge, both in academic and professional dimensions, and to open up opportunities for collaboration in research, academic events, and professor and student exchanges. This marks a significant step toward elevating the School of Law’s academic standards and connecting more effectively with the international community.

The Law School at Shanghai University is well-known for its academic excellence, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate programs. It prides itself on its balanced integration of theory and practice, exemplified by its establishment of a “Legal Clinic.” This clinic not only provides legal academic services to the public, but also offers students valuable hands-on learning experiences. The school is highly regarded for its expertise in international law, comparative law, and intellectual property law. It frequently hosts national and international academic events to promote learning and cultivate academic potential in response to the demands of a globalized world.
Shanghai University (上海大学), situated in the bustling city of Shanghai, China's economic and cultural hub, is a prestigious institution included in China's "Project 211" and "Double First-Class" initiatives. These national-level programs strive to cultivate top-tier universities. With its establishment dating back to 1922, the university boasts a rich academic legacy and encompasses three campuses: Baoshan, Yanchang, and Yanjiao Ding, spanning over 1,125 rai (approximately 180 hectares) in total.
This visit and academic dialogue not only strengthened ties between Thai and Chinese educational institutions, but also opened doors for future knowledge exchange and long-term legal collaboration. This cooperation is expected to greatly contribute to the ongoing development of students and staff at the School of Law, University of Phayao.
