Experts from the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, including Mr.Sangsan Wongchairattana, Mr. Jagkrapob Thongking, Engineer, and Mr. Payu Chakunna, Laboratory Instructor, were appointed as members of the laboratory assessment team under the Enhancement of Safety Practice of Research Laboratory in Thailand (ESPReL) initiative. The team conducted safety assessments of Laboratory AGR2201 at the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources, University of Phayao, on 9 and 16 July 2026.
The assessment comprehensively evaluated the laboratory's physical infrastructure to ensure compliance with the ESPReL laboratory safety standards. Key areas of inspection included the structural integrity of the facility, electrical systems, water supply systems, ventilation systems, and fire prevention and suppression systems. In addition, the assessment examined the overall readiness of the laboratory working environment to ensure that it supports safe and effective operations for laboratory personnel, researchers, students, and all laboratory users.
The ESPReL assessment serves as a key mechanism for strengthening laboratory safety management, promoting compliance with nationally recognized safety standards, mitigating operational risks, and fostering a sustainable culture of safety in research laboratories across higher education institutions in Thailand.
