On September 18, 2026, Associate Professor Supakorn Pongbangpho, Ph.D.President, University of Phayao, presided over the opening of the “Three-Generation Health Fair: Connecting Mae Sai Community” at Samritthisuk Center, Mae Sai Subdistrict, Mueang Phayao District. The event was held under the UP Flagship: Societal Well-being Samritthisuk Wellness Hospitality to showcase and share the results of one year of community health initiatives. The event was welcomed by Mr. Santi Sareeruean, Mayor of Mae Sai Subdistrict Administrative Organization, with the report delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Anukul Manothon, Associate Dean for Strategy and Organizational Development, School of Public Health, University of Phayao.
Throughout fiscal year 2026, the University of Phayao implemented 15 integrated projects with faculties and university units to promote health and quality of life in the Mae Sai community. The projects covered health promotion, disease prevention, elderly and disability care, holistic health, and the development of health-supportive spaces and innovations. The Samritthisuk Center also served as a learning and service space, while providing students and staff with practical experience through community-based and interprofessional learning.
A key result was a quality-of-life survey of 600 older adults from 12 villages in Mae Sai Subdistrict using the WHO-QOL-OLD assessment. The results showed that 98.67% of participants had moderate to very high quality of life, with an average score of 83.04. These findings provide evidence for developing more targeted approaches and policies for elderly health and well-being in the community.
The event featured a Show & Share of all 15 projects, together with exhibitions and health services, including traditional Thai and Chinese medicine. The activities provided opportunities for residents to access health knowledge and services while strengthening collaboration among the university, local community, health service providers, and partners. The results demonstrate the role of Samritthisuk Center as a community-based model for promoting well-being and a platform for continuous health learning and development.
