Strategic Innovation Work of the School of Political and Social Sciences organized a seminar project on Political and Social Sciences for the fiscal y

        On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, the Strategic Innovation Work of the School of Political and Social Sciences organized a seminar project on Political and Social Sciences for the fiscal year 2024. The event took place at Room UB 003, 99 year Building, Phraubalikhunupamajarn (Puang Thammapunyo), University of Phayao, starting from 08:30 to 16:00. Associate Professor Dr. Montra Pongnil, Dean of the School of Political and Social Sciences, presided over the opening ceremony.

           The aforementioned project arose from the expertise and academic interests of members and staff in School of Political and Social Sciences. With diverse academic and research backgrounds, coupled with the current research context that emphasizes collaboration in exploration, the project aims to facilitate mutual learning. This approach is expected to lead to the development of knowledge, innovation, and research questions that are relevant to the current situation. Recognizing the importance of fostering academic platforms for knowledge exchange among faculty members, staff, current students, alumni, and interested individuals both within and outside the university, the Strategic Innovation Work of the School of Political and Social Sciences has organized the "Academic Seminar on Political and Social Sciences" for the current occasion. The project is headed by Associate Professor Dr. Wannapa Tongdaeng, with coordination by Ms. Pornaopaum Wongwilat. The goal is to facilitate knowledge transfer and exchange, contributing to the ongoing development and enhancement of academic and research strength within the School.

The seminar project for this occasion comprises four sub-activities, namely:

Activity 1

Display of students' works, including academic articles and projects in the field of Political  and Social Sciences, will be showcased throughout the day.

Activity 2

The academic seminar is divided into two sessions. In the morning session, the topic is "Constitution in the Current of Change: Perspectives from Scholars in Political and Social Sciences, University of Phayao". In the afternoon session, the focus shifts to "Constitution and Thai Political Ideologies: Survival, Alternatives, or Defiance."

Activity 3

Addressing academic issues related to human rights will be conducted from 16:00 to 17:30. The initiative is led by the working committee of the Amnesty UP Club, in collaboration with the School of Political and Social Sciences.

Activity 4

A film screening reflecting society will take place from 18:00 to 20:00. The event is organized by the working committee of the Amnesty UP Club in collaboration with the School of Political and Social Sciences. The venue is at Suan Tai Rom Rat Phat, Building (PKY).

For the morning seminar activities, we are honored to have five distinguished speakers, including both former and current faculty members of the School of Political and Social Sciences. They are:

          1. Associate Professor Dr. Chaiyan Rachchakul, Independent Scholar, Former Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Ubon Ratchathani University, and Former Faculty Member of the School of Political  and Social Sciences, University of Phayao.

          2. Assistant Professor Sunthorn Sukhasaranjit, Former Instructor in Bachelor of Political Science Program, University of Phayao.

          3. Assistant Professor Dr. Numtip Smerchuar, Deputy Dean for Academic Innovation and Instructor in Master of Public Administration Program with a focus on Public Management Innovation.

          4. Associate Professor Dr. Prayong Jandaeng, Instructor in Bachelor of Arts in Social Development Program and Parallel Programs in Graduate Education.

          5. Dr. Anurat Phuntungpoom, Instructor in Bachelor of Political Science Program.

          The event will be facilitated by Assistant Professor Sarawudhi Wisaprom, Instructor in Bachelor of Political Science Program.

           For the afternoon seminar activities, we are honored to have Mr. Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, a prominent figure who serves as both a businessman and a political activist. He is a former leader of the Future Forward Party, a former member of the House of Representatives under the party's list, and the chairman of the Forward Foundation.

          In addition to Mr. Thanathorn, we also have the privilege of having Assistant Professor Sarawudhi Wisaprom, an Instructor of the Bachelor of Political Science Program, and Dr. Suthinee Chutimakulthawee, an Instructor of the Master of Public Administration Program with a focus on Public Management Innovation, as the moderators for the seminar.

The atmosphere inside the seminar was filled with enthusiasm and had participants who showed interest from both within and outside the school. They joined the activities together warmly and wholeheartedly. Therefore, the execution of this seminar project has contributed to promoting a lively, educational, and enjoyable environment, aligning well with the vision of the school.
