Engineering UP Holds 2nd Landscape Committee Meeting to ensure readiness for the start of the academic year

School of Engineering Convenes the 2nd Landscape and Environmental Committee Meeting of 2025 On 16 May 2025, School of Engineering, University of Phayao, convened the Landscape and Environmental Committee Meeting No. 2/2025 at the Meeting Room of the Engineering Research and Academic Services Center. The meeting was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. Erawin Thavorn, Associate Dean for Research and Academic Services, in his capacity as Chairperson of the Landscape and Environmental Committee. The session was attended by committee members and relevant personnel. The agenda primarily focused on the ongoing development, improvement, and maintenance of the School physical environment, with the objective of fostering an academic atmosphere that supports teaching, learning, and research. Deliberations also included strategic planning for sustainable environmental management within the School  premises.

The primary objective of this meeting was to ensure the readiness of School  of Engineering in terms of landscape, safety, and space utilization prior to the commencement of the first semester of the 2025 academic year.

The committee discussed key environmental and physical concerns within the School  premises, particularly around the engineering buildings. Members collaboratively proposed solutions and action plans to address existing issues, as well as initiatives to enhance the overall condition of the School grounds. The discussions were structured around 4 main areas:

Safety Management – Topics included preventive measures for soil erosion near the Industrial Engineering Laboratory Building, inspection and maintenance of damaged equipment, weed control, and the removal of debris along pedestrian pathways to ensure a safe and accessible environment.

Landscape and Aesthetic Enhancement – Key areas of focus involved the development and improvement of the spaces surrounding Buildings EN 3 and EN 4, maintenance of trees and greenery, and the repair of the aeration system in the School’s wastewater treatment pond.

Functional Use of Space – Initiatives included the renovation of connecting walkways (including ramps) between Buildings EN 1–2 and EN 3–4 to facilitate the transport of heavy equipment, installation of sunshade panels in student rest areas, improvement and marking of parking spaces, and the design and installation of new School  signage.

Other Concerns – The committee also addressed the management of stray animals—including stray dogs, pigeons, and snakes—within the School  area, which pose risks to safety and hygiene.

Additionally, proposed solutions were accompanied by clear assignments of responsibilities to relevant personnel. Emphasis was placed on completing all preparations prior to the beginning of the academic semester to ensure a safe, clean, and positive learning environment for all students and staff.
