September 8, 2025 – The University of Phayao (UP) joined forces with Phayao Province in advancing the “Thailand Zero Dropout” initiative, a nationwide program aimed at ensuring all children and youth have equal access to education. Representing the University, Associate Professor Phanintra Teeranon, Ph.D.Assistant to the President, attended the provincial meeting chaired by Mr. Rattaphon Naradisorn, Governor of Phayao, held at the Srikomkham 1 Meeting Room, Phayao Provincial Hall.
The meeting gathered key stakeholders including the Phayao Provincial Education Office and the Equitable Education Fund (EEF) to review progress since the program’s launch in December 2024. The initiative involves data collection to identify at-risk students, assigning responsible officers for home visits and counseling, and planning long-term support strategies.
Beyond academic reintegration, the program provides scholarships, food and travel allowances, and seed funding for vocational opportunities. Partnerships with businesses such as KFC enable students to gain hands-on work experience that can be converted into academic credits, while support from companies like Sansiri further strengthens pathways for sustainable education and career development.
The initiative highlights a collaborative approach between government, academia, and the private sector in tackling education inequality. By offering financial support, vocational training, and career-linked education, “Thailand Zero Dropout” aims to reduce dropout rates, enhance equal opportunities, and improve the quality of life for youth in Phayao and across Thailand.
