Assistant Professor Dr. Kanlaya Jumpatong, Associate Dean for Administration, led a research team and community innovators in hosting an educational workshop on natural dye innovation, product design, and household accounting on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Mae Ing Shibori Natural Dye Learning Center, Dong Jen Subdistrict, Phu Kamyao District, Phayao Province.
The comprehensive training program featured three key components:
• Natural Dye Innovation – Led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanlaya Jumpatong, participants learned advanced techniques in natural dyeing processes
• Product Design – Asst. Prof. Dr. Suleeporn Kamchompoo guided attendees through creative product development strategies
• Household Accounting – Dr. Ruangrong Suwankarn provided essential financial management skills for sustainable business growth
As part of the initiative, dye-producing plants were distributed to representatives from 10 community groups to cultivate locally, ensuring long-term sustainability of the natural dye industry.
This workshop is part of the " Expanding Mae Ing Shibori Natural Dye Innovation to enhance the value of local fabric products, increasing household income, and strengthen a community economy of Phayao Province," funded by Program Management Unit on Area Based Development (PMU A) for the fiscal year 2025.
The project exemplifies the School of Science's commitment to translating academic research into practical solutions that directly benefit local communities, preserve traditional crafts, and create sustainable economic opportunities for rural households.
