On September 3, 2025, Assistant Professor Dr. Sunthon Khlai-Um, the Associate Dean for Administration and Student Quality Development, along with Assistant Professor Dr. Watchara Jatuporn, the Associate Dean of Research and Academic Services in Area-based, Assistant Professor Dr. Natthawut Subphaso, Assistant Dean, Mr. Wittavas Thiwai, the Head of Planning, and Mrs. Chutimadee Chaibao, the Educator, conducted the project to conserve and preserve local wisdom for community development, at Dok Kham Tai Subdistrict for sustainable development, based on the Baworn principle, Dissemination of Lanna wisdom on ‘Sacred Wooden Buddha Carving’ Wat Bun Hom, at Suwankhana Nusorn School, Don Si Chum Subdistrict, Dok Khamtai District, Phayao Province. It was welcomed by the director of Suwankhana Nusorn School, Phrakhu Wisit Kittanuyut, and the group. It was also honored by Phra Manit Pasanno, a community scholar in sacred wooden Buddha carving, who served as a workshop lecturer on the topic ‘Lanna Wisdom: The Conservation of Sacred Wooden Buddha Images.’ The objective of this project is to conserve the Sacred Wooden Buddha Image of Wat Bun Hom for sustainability, to develop and promote cultural tourism in Dok Khamtai Subdistrict, Dok Khamtai District, Phayao Province, and to strengthen the community economy based on culture and local wisdom. The project also aims to establish community learning centers as a foundation for participatory learning among educational institutions, local administrative organizations, and community members, in alignment with the University of Phayao’s mission of ‘Wisdom for Community Empowerment. It corresponded with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4: Promote learning opportunities and ensure inclusive and equitable quality education (Quality Education), SDG 8: Promote decent employment and foster economic growth (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11: Build safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and communities (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17: Strengthen partnerships for sustainable development (Partnerships for the Goals).
