The University of Phayao (UP), under the leadership of Associate Professor Supakorn Pongbangpho, Ph.D., President of the University of Phayao, made an official visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from December 3-4, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen international academic cooperation and collaborative research with prominent Vietnamese institutions such as the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City (UAH) and the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH). Additionally, the UP delegation also attended the ASAIHL 2025 Conference.
During the visit, the UP delegation participated in high-level discussions that centered on student and faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives, and the co-development of academic curricula. These discussions focused on key areas of collaboration such as energy and environmental studies, architecture, design and fine arts, tourism, business, and education. These areas reflect shared priorities in sustainable development and innovation-driven learning.
At UAH, the discussions focused on promoting cooperation in urban design research, architecture and design education, as well as joint workshops and training programs. During talks with IUH, potential collaborations in industry-oriented curricula and applied research were highlighted, with a focus on aligning with technological advancements and workforce development.
In addition, the UP President and delegation attended the ASAIHL 2025 Academic Conference at the New World Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City. The conference gathered more than 300 participants from higher education institutions across Southeast Asia and focused on emerging global challenges, particularly the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Global Citizenship in shaping the future of higher education.
This visit represents a significant step in the University of Phayao’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its ASEAN academic network, enhance international research capacity, and promote educational innovation, ultimately preparing graduates with the skills and perspectives required to compete in the global arena.
