School of Liberal Arts Triumphs at the 4th "Tourism + Chinese" Video Competition

 

     On September 17, 2026, the executive team, faculty members, and students from the Chinese Program, School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, paid a courtesy call on Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao. The meeting was held to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the faculty and students who received prestigious awards from the 4th "Tourism + Chinese" Video Competition. On this occasion, the President extended her warmest congratulations and commended the dedication of both the instructors and students.

 

     The delegation from the School of Liberal Arts included Associate Professor Poonpong Ngamkasem, Expert of the School of Liberal Arts; Assistant Professor Dr. Phitsinee Sathientharadol, Associate Dean for Academic and Administrative Affairs; Dr. Chanapa Duangfai, Associate Dean for Special Affairs; Mr. Nattaworn Wongjittratorn, Associate Dean for Student Quality; Mr. Mongkhon Chaiarram, and Mr. Zhiguo Wang. They accompanied the award-winning fourth-year Chinese major students: Ms. Phakphing Suphan, Ms. Pathamawadee Woranut, and Ms. Aphinya Sinloh.

 

     The three students collaboratively produced a video titled "Cultural Tourism in Phayao Province" (碧瑶文化之旅) presenting the unique cultural identity and prominent tourist attractions of Phayao uisng Chinese language. It was submitted to the 4th "Tourism + Chinese" Video Competition, organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. The outstanding entry was honored with the Best Video Production Award.

 

     The global competition attracted over 500 participants from 65 countries. Alongside the students' victory, the University of Phayao was recognized with the Outstanding Organization Award. Furthermore, Mr. Zhiguo Wang and Mr. Mongkhon Chaiarram received the Outstanding Advisor Award for their invaluable guidance and unwavering support throughout the creative process.

 

     Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho expressed her congratulations to the awardees and praised their commitment to applying Chinese language proficiency and skills to promote Phayao's identity, culture, and tourism on an international platform. She emphasized that their achievements have significantly enhanced the academic reputation of University of Phayao.

 

     This success reflects the high potential of Chinese major students at School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, particularly in terms of Chinese language proficiency, creativity, and cross-cultural communication. It also demonstrates the effectiveness of the curriculum, which integrates Chinese language education with local culture, tourism, and experiential learning.

 

     School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, remains committed to promoting and supporting student participation in academic activities and international forums. This continuous support aims to provide students with opportunities to refine their language skills, enrich their learning experiences outside the classroom, and effectively utilize Chinese as a medium to share stories and cultural identity of Phayao onto the global stage.
