The School of Liberal Arts, University of Phayao, participated in the “International Conference on Chinese Language Teaching in South Asia and Southeast Asia” and “The 2026 International Chinese Language Teaching Achievement Exhibition.” Held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Khum Phucome Hotel in Chiang Mai, the event commemorated the 20th Anniversary of the Confucius Institute at Chiang Mai University. The conference aimed to foster academic cooperation networks and promote Chinese language education among Thailand, China, and countries across South Asia and Southeast Asia, while facilitating the exchange of knowledge, practical experience, and teaching innovation across educational institutions.
The conference featured a keynote lecture titled “Two Decades of Higher Education Chinese Curriculum Development in Thailand and the Cultivation of Advanced Chinese Personnel for the Future,” delivered by Prof. Dr. Kanokporn Numtong from the Faculty of Humanities, Kasetsart University. The presentation highlighted the evolution of undergraduate Chinese curricula in Thailand over the past 20 years and outlined strategies for training high-level Chinese language professionals to meet future societal and market demands.

Roundtable Discussion: Dr. Chanapa Daungfai, Associate Dean for Special Affairs, and Lecturer Nattaworn Wongjittratorn, Associate Dean for Student Quality, participated in the panel on “New Visions, Shared Experiences, and Local Contexts: Driving and Developing the HSK 3.0 Standard in South and Southeast Asia.” The session brought together language experts and scholars to discuss aligning HSK 3.0 implementation with local institutional contexts and elevating language proficiency standards.
Specialized Symposium: Dr. Wansa Moodmai, Lecturer in the Chinese Program, attended the session on “Exploration and Practices of Cross-Disciplinary Cooperation in 'Chinese + Vocation' across South and Southeast Asia.” This discussion focused on integrating Chinese language instruction with professional disciplines, expanding university-industry collaboration, and encouraging practical language applications to enhance students' career readiness within the regional job market.
Additionally, the University of Phayao was honored with an Outstanding Partner Institution Award in Chinese Language Education, standing as one of only five institutions selected for this prestigious recognition. This award underscores the University's unwavering commitment to advancing Chinese language pedagogy and building sustainable academic networks across the region.
