On May 6, 2026, Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, President of the University of Phayao, presided over the opening ceremony of the 14th Taxonomy and Systematics in Thailand (TST) Conference at the University of Phayao. Associate Professor Dr. Sithisak Pinmongkolkul, Dean of the Faculty of Science, delivered the conference report.
The conference was organized by the Faculty of Science, University of Phayao, in collaboration with the Center of Excellence on Biodiversity, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, under the theme “Utilization of Biodiversity, Ecosystem Services, and Area-Based Research for Sustainable Futures.” The event aimed to promote knowledge exchange and strengthen research collaboration in biodiversity and systematics across Thailand.
The conference featured keynote lectures from distinguished scholars and researchers, including Professor Dr. Somsak Panha from Chulalongkorn University, Professor Dr. Samer Thananoi from the University of Phayao, Dr. Timothy Utteridge from the Singapore Botanic Garden, and Dr. Alongkot Ponlawat from the Armed Forces Research Institute of Medical Sciences (AFRIMS).
The event was also held in celebration of the 16th anniversary of the University of Phayao and the 25th anniversary of its Faculty of Science, reflecting the university’s commitment to advancing biodiversity research and sustainable development at the national level.
