On Saturday, 5 September 2026, the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, organized a training session on “Industrial Safety” as part of the Student Internship Preparation Program at PKY1 Lecture Hall, University of Phayao. The activity was designed to enhance students’ knowledge, understanding, and practical competencies in workplace safety prior to undertaking internships and cooperative education placements in real-world industrial settings.
The training was officially opened by Assistant Professor Dr. Wassana Naku, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Quality Assurance, School of Engineering. The opening session was followed by lectures delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Erawin Thavorn, Vice Dean for Research and Academic Services, School of Engineering, on “Roles and Responsibilities in Engineering Practice” and “Workplace Safety.” The sessions emphasized students’ understanding of the professional roles and responsibilities of engineers, alongside the importance of safety principles and appropriate practices in engineering workplaces.
The activity constituted an integral component of the School’s efforts to prepare students for their transition into the professional world. It encouraged students to connect and apply knowledge acquired in the classroom to authentic workplace contexts, while fostering a strong safety-oriented mindset and awareness of occupational risks. These competencies are essential components of responsible engineering practice.
Furthermore, equipping students with fundamental knowledge and skills in occupational safety before entering professional workplaces enables them to identify and assess potential risks, undertake basic risk management, comply with established safety principles and procedures, and reduce the likelihood of workplace accidents and injuries. Such preparation contributes to more effective and responsible participation in internship and cooperative education programs, while reinforcing students’ professional readiness and commitment to safety in engineering practice.
