On 27 October 2026, Associate Professor Supakorn  Pongbangpho, Ph.D.President, University of Phayao (UP), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Professor Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai, Acting President of Can Tho University (CTU), Vietnam. The agreement aims to strengthen academic and research collaboration and expand international partnerships within ASEAN.

The collaboration will focus on joint bachelor's and master's degree programs, student and staff exchanges, and joint research in health sciences, agriculture, biotechnology, engineering, information technology, and environmental sciences. UP also invited CTU to participate in the 16th Phayao Research Conference to promote knowledge exchange and develop future academic partnerships.

The agreement builds on an earlier visit to CTU's College of Natural Sciences on 5 August 2025, which explored collaboration in health sciences and pharmaceutical sciences. This partnership marks another important step in expanding UP's international academic network and creating more opportunities for students and staff to learn, exchange expertise, and conduct joint research with international partners.
