University of Phayao organized CSR event to release marine life, 'From the mountains to the sea' under the meeting to review “University Development Strategy and strategic plan” to link with the Sustainable Development Goals. It has supported to receive the marine animals from Rayong Coastal Aquaculture Research and Development Center, Coastal Aquaculture Research and Development, Division Department of Fisheries, The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to released 1,500 snapper and 2,000 sweet shellfish to promote an increase in the number of marine animals that provide human food. It is also cooperating with the Marine Endangered Species Veterinary Hospital and the Marine Resource Research Center and the eastern Gulf coast, Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in releasing 25-30 years old of a Hawksbill Sea turtle back into nature for conservation and increased chances of breeding and spawning during May-July every year.

 

The event was led by the President of University of Phayao, Associate Professor Dr. Supakorn Pongbangpho, along with the executives and staff, joined together to conduct CSR activities to release marine animals 'From the mountains to the sea'. On April 3, 2022, at Khai Bay, Klaeng District, Rayong Province, the Hawksbill Sea turtle were brought in with permission from the Marine  Resource Research Center and the Eastern Gulf Coast, the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, to give the its name “UP-Supakorn”, along with the microchips, code 933.0764005652297, to track travel routes and breeding and spawning routes to commemorate the University of Phayao. It is also honored by the President of University of Phayao who represents of women and works as a leader in the natural resource, wildlife, and plant species conservation. Supporting BCG and SDG development activities of Thailand and strengthen communities under a natural resource base.


In additions, the Vice President for Environment and Landscape Affairs University of Phayao, Dr. Chatchawal Wongchai was commissioned by the President. In order to monitor UP-Supakorn in conjunction with the Research Center to promote and develop the work of SDG 13, 14 and 15, as well as to support the land and marine biodiversity conservation projects of Koh Man Nai Island, which is located in the vicinity of Ao Khai Bay, that is important because it is the site of the sea turtle conservation project. There are varieties of Green turtle and Hawksbill Sea turtle. According to Her Majesty the Queen Mother and after the activities of releasing marine animals and sea turtles, the executives also volunteered to conduct beachside garbage collection activity to restore clean and beautiful space as well.
