The School of Science, University of Phayao, demonstrates excellence in research and social innovation, securing a major victory with the highest SDG performance award, Outstanding Researcher awards, and the National Learning Area award at the 15th Phayao Research Conference.

On January 27, 2026, at Room UB002, 99th Year of Phra Ubaleekunupamajarn (Puang Thammaphanyo) Building, University of Phayao, faculty members and researchers from the Faculty of Science received honorary awards during the opening ceremony of the 15th National Phayao Research Conference (Phayao Research Conference 15th), showcasing nationally recognized achievements as follows:

🌟 1. The Highest Pride: Platinum Award (1st Place)

The scool achieved the Platinum Award—the highest level of recognition—for the 2025 "1 Faculty 1 SDG" project performance. This prestigious honor was awarded to the research team for their project: "Restoration and Conservation of Forest Ecosystems at the University of Phayao Boundary, Protected Forest Areas, and Ban So Community Forest to Promote Sustainable Development."

This successful initiative was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Reungruthai Sirirak (Voice Dean for Research and Innovation) as the Project Leader, in collaboration with a distinguished team of co-researchers, including:

  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Sugunya Suebsan
  • Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriwat Boonchaisri
  • Ms. Kanta Sangwijit
  • Mr. Prajak Khatthi
  • Ms. Chutima Jaiphet
  • Ms. Maneenut Runsri
  • Ms. Narumol Boonruang

🔬 2. University of Phayao Outstanding Researcher Awards 2024 In the field of Science and Technology, three faculty members from the Faculty of Science received awards:

  • 1st Place: Associate Professor Dr. Aiyared Iampan
  • 3rd Place: Assistant Professor Dr. Thiti Gaketem
  • 4th Place: Associate Professor Dr. Watcharaporn Cholamjiak

🤝 3. Research Award for Community Benefit Assistant Professor Dr. Tipwan Suppasat received the University of Phayao Researcher Award in the category of research work that benefits the community, at the "Excellent" (Very Good) level.

🌱 4. Learning Area Award

The school of Science received the Learning Area Award for the project "Development of a Prototype Community for Greenhouse Gas Reduction using Science and Technology," which is a project under the Reinventing University strategy. The project was led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Reungruthai Sirirak (Voice Dean for Research and Innovation) as the Project Leader, with Dr. Niyom Hongsit, Dr. Patcharin Tangchaisuriya (Vice Dean for Student Development and Student Relations), Asst. Prof. Dr. Sugunya Suebsan, Asst. Prof. Dr. Siriwat Boonchaisri, Ms. Kanta Sangwijit and Mr. Prajak Khatthi serving as co-researchers.

On this occasion, the School of Science was highly honored by Professor Emeritus Athapol Yaisawang (Chairman of the University Council) and Professor Peerapong Tekasakul (Chairman of the Subcommittee on Reinventing University). They visited the research exhibition booths and provided valuable advice for developing area-based research and driving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into concrete results.

This success serves as a testament to the dedication of the faculty and staff of the Faculty of Science, who aim to produce high-quality research and innovations that sustainably address the needs of society and the country.
