On 26 August 2026, Assistant Professor Dr. Pojanasak Pojana, a faculty member of the School of Engineering, University of Phayao, participated in a research pitching session under the project entitled “Research Study and Preparation for the Establishment of a Legal Entity for Joint Investment (Holding Company), Fiscal Year 2026.” The session was held as part of UP Innovation Day 2026: “From Research to Innovation-Based Entrepreneurship” (Building the First Venture Pipeline for University Holding Company) at the Phaya Ngam Mueang Auditorium, University of Phayao, Phayao Province.

On this occasion, Assistant Professor Dr. Pojanasak Pojana presented his research and innovation project, “UP-NANOGUARD: Biomimetic Nanostructured Surface Technology for Hygienic and Medical Materials” The project focuses on developing biomimetic nanostructured surface technology for applications in hygienic and medical materials and surfaces, with the aim of enhancing their performance and potential for practical use.

The UP-NANOGUARD project represents an effort to translate knowledge and expertise in nanofabrication and nanomaterials into the development of products with tangible real-world applications. A key objective is to strengthen the project’s readiness in critical areas, including technology readiness, intellectual property, market potential, cost and return analysis, and commercialization pathways. These efforts are intended to facilitate the further development of the research toward the establishment of a university spin-off or potential investment partnership with the University Holding Company, which constitutes a key component of the university’s investment-readiness initiative.

Participation in the pitching session provided an important opportunity to demonstrate the potential of the research to a panel of experts and stakeholders in investment and innovation. It also enabled the research team to receive valuable feedback to further strengthen the project’s readiness, particularly in terms of technological development, business model, target customer segments, and pathways for the commercial utilization of research outcomes.

The event was organized as part of UP Innovation Day 2026, held by the University of Phayao from 25–26 August 2026 under the theme “From Research to Innovation-Based Entrepreneurship” (Building the First Venture Pipeline for University Holding Company). On 26 August 2026, the event featured a dedicated pitching session for research projects aimed at preparing them for potential investment and collaboration through the University Holding Company.

This initiative reflects the University of Phayao’s commitment to advancing Research to Innovation and Research to Venture by empowering researchers to translate knowledge and discoveries generated in laboratories into prototypes, market-oriented products, and innovation-driven ventures. Such efforts contribute to creating economic value from research and innovation while enabling the university’s knowledge and technological capabilities to generate tangible benefits for society and the economy.
